How can I recognize OCD in dogs?
I have been looking up a lot of different dog breeds lately. I have noticed that in the health problem of some dog breeds, OCD is listed as one of the problems. I don't know if I have ever seen a dog with this or not.
What are the signs that a dog has OCD? What are the causes of OCD, health problems, nerve problems or genetics? Are there any treatments?

In order to recognize Osteochondrosis Dissecans or commonly known as OCD, your pet must undergo some diagnostic tests by a Veterinarian. Commonly "the veterinarian will suspect OCD based on signalment (age, sex and breed), history and clinical examination." Aside from the medical background of your dog and comprehensive examination other examinations is also recommended by vet such as:
-a comprehensive orthopedic tests. The test results "shows lameness and joint pain or swelling."
-conducting X-ray on the "affected joint. "These can illustrate the primary OCD problem or show the secondary DJD that results from it."
-Arthrogram examination. This usually involves the injection of dye "the joint and taking a radiograph may be helpful in establishing a definitive diagnosis of OCD."
-Blood tests.
-Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT). "These are specialized tests that are sometimes performed at large referral centers."
Accordingly the treatment recommended is the conduct of surgery by removing "any loose pieces of cartilage from the joint surface and curette (scrape) the cartilage defect to stimulate filling of the defect."
