Recipes for an okra-phobe?

I'm pretty lucky, and the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten is only Okra.

Being a foodie and an enlightened person, I want to get over my food phobias. But I don't know the first thing about cooking okra. Do you have any good recipes I can try? I'd prefer something not like gumbo or fried okra where the slimy parts of the okra are, er, "enhanced" by the cooking method. Thanks!

I went to allrecipes.com and searched okra recipes they have about 10 different recipes with cooking directions and the good thing is most recipes have reviews to read. Below is an example of the ingredients in this Creole Okra recipe the entire recipe and directions is on allrecipes.com You should also try Fried Okra it is not slimy but tasty!
Creole Okra
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil 1/2 large onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped 1 (16 ounce) can diced tomatoes in juice 3/8 teaspoon dried thyme 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper salt and pepper to taste 1 (16 ounce) package frozen cut okra

I found a Nigerian okra soup recipe that is really delicious. To prepare it, you need 2 pounds of fresh or dried Okra, fluted pumpkin, spinach, goat or lamb meat, dried or smoked and fresh fishes, stock fish, 2 teaspoons of groundnut or vegetable oil, fresh chili pepper, onions and fresh tomatoes, spices and seasonings including ox nor and magi cubes, 1 or 2 teaspoons of salt to taste and 5 cups of water.
