From what I remember, we had very few reality shows until the previous writers' strike (not this past one 2 years ago, the one before that). When TV producers saw that the writers were thinking about striking, they throw up a bunch of crappy reality shows on TV just to fill the gaps. Lo and behold, the American public loves watching them, and they never looked back.

The rest of them remind me of high school popularity contests.
They tend to show a false-reality that is superficial and fake.

Yeah I remember the first strike. I wish the writers and t.v. companies would realize a strike only damages both sides. I have moved almost entirely away from network t.v. and have switched to cable. Cable has so many great shows on like; Rescue Me, The Closer, In Plain Sight, Monk, Psyched, Burn Notice,Leverage just to name a few
