Yes, I've actually heard the STD testing brought up on an episode of Rock of Love before. There was also an episode of Flava of Love where it was discussed.
"Pumkin," from Flava of Love fame, confirms it in this interview:
“They told me...you just gotta go through STD testing, the psychological background check, and then we're gonna narrow it down to 25 - then the next thing I knew, I was on Flavor of Love with Flavor Flav.”

It makes sense that they would this, as with the psychological background check: If the person an infected person partnered up with were to catch their disease, the biggest lawsuit would be coming the studios way (indeed, the best chance of a big financial payout would be from the studio.) Naturally the studio is going to want to cover their butt, so to speak.
I expect there's a lawyer or two that looks over all new show proposals to make sure the studio is doing enough to avoid the appearance of negligence. (Whether they are acting responsibly is another matter.) ;)

Do contestants in reality dating shows like Rock of Love get tested for STD's?
When I see the ridiculous sluttiness and hooking up on these shows I just have to ask myself do these women get tested? If not VH1 could be putting Bret Michaels and Flav at risk :-P
But mostly I'm just curious!

Yes, as Demanda says, it has been mentioned in interviews with contestants before. (She knows much more about these shows than me ..I can't state any sources.) :) It makes sense that they would this, as with the psychological background check: If the person an infected person partnered up with were to catch their disease, the biggest lawsuit would be coming the studios way (indeed, the best chance of a big financial payout would be from the studio.) I agree. I don't see why the girls should be the only ones responsible in this sort of situation.

Oh yeah. absolutely. But I guess at that point I wrote that because I was just terrified by the girls in Rock of Love Bus. They just keep topping themselves in terms of trashiness.
