QUESTION: What are some examples of personalities that have defined/reinvented brands (especially via social media)?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Probably one of the most talked about brands that have defined themselves via social media is Zappos. Through the efforts of Tony Hsieh, the CEO, they have forged an outstanding reputation for customer responsiveness and made Tony a celebrity of sorts.
Similar things can be said of Kevin Rose of Digg and Gary Veynerchuck of Wine Libary. Both brands are defined by the personality that these leaders project into their respective companies.
And the definitive example of a huge brand redefined by personality was when Steve Jobs returned to Apple. Enough said about that.
Interesting topic.
I've included links to all the companies mentioned as well as to my marketing podcast, The BeanCast, where we discuss issues like this on a regular basis.
