Question for Coldplay: How do you explain all of the plagiarism claims? (Satriani, some other band, and now Cat Stevens)
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There are a couple of problems with the plagiarism claim (which were addressed by Chris Martin and Coldplay).
First, the band alleged that Chris Martin (the frontman for Coldplay) was at one of their shows, and there he learned their music and then copied it for Viva la Vida. The first problem is that Martin says he wasn't in London at the time of the show (which was in New York), which makes it difficult to attend.
The second is that the song was written and demoed six months before the concert. So, unless Coldplay has some secret time machine that they haven't told us about, it looks like this band is just mistaken. The music is similar, but I just can't see a band like that ripping off other musicians.
