Quentin Tarantino has revealed his personal favorite movies made since 1992 - do you agree?

Disagree? Did any of your faves make the "director's cut?" Any glaring omissions that surprise you?
Tip for best answer: M$2.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Funny, I can totally understand why Tarantino picked: Fight Club, Shaun of the Dead, Team America: World Police, and Unbreakable. All of these movies were wonderful in a quirky way, and I certainly enjoyed those.

But there's one movie I just don't understand from his list:

Speed. Really? Speed? I mean I enjoy mocking it as much as the next person, and I do a fantastic impression of Sandra Bullock saying, "I've got GUM on my seat, GUM!", but....Speed?

As for my picks?

Really. I know that no one gave that movie much credit, but I thought it had a delightful dark moodiness that most people relish in Tim Burton. Mass audiences who love Jim Carey flocked expecting to see something different, and I think it didn't get a fair shake. I stand by it, and think that with different publicity, released at a different time it would've found a nerdy audience (like myself) to love it. ;)

Series of unfortunate events? Really? Oh well... I voted you best answer anyway.

There's not one movie in his collection that makes me say, "Yea! That was an awesome movie!"

Bunny & Ebert gives his list two thumbs down.

Well here's his list: Battle Royale, Anything Else, Audition, Blade, Boogie Nights, Dazed & Confused, Dogville, Fight Club, Fridays, The Host, The Insider, Joint Security Area, Lost In Translation, The Matrix, Memories of Murder, Police Story 3, Shaun of the Dead, Speed, Team America, Unbreakable

The one son there that I have seen I'll agree with, especially on the matrix movies *shudder*. I think what amazes me most about the list is his inclusion of the Japanese cult hit Battle Royale as his #1.

I'm not too good at knowing when movies were made without looking it up. But that does seem a strange list for the best movies over a period of approx the last 17 years.

They're mostly good, but really the absolute best?

The only one on the list that might make my own list is The Insider.

Obviously he couldn't select his own films for the list, but I can, so I'd definitely have Pulp Fiction. And overall my list would be less quirky with more of the big popular hits, things like Lord of the Rings, A Beautiful Mind, Forrest Gump, Titanic, Gladiator.

I might have one or two quirky ones of my own, like Dogma, but they wouldn't be the same as his.

B-zarre. While I love Dazed and Confused and Team America (F*ck yeah!), I have to agree with @gno's assessment of Speed - really? Speed? Fun, certainly. One of the best since 1992? Good lord, I hope not.

Although, to Quentin's credit, coming up with a list of 20 movies can be harder than it seems, at least for me. I was going to post my own top 20, but can't think of more than 5 or 6, and those are too embarrassing to share.

Surprised with the omission of any old Australian B-movie that he defended to be some of his favorite movies ever on the documentary 'Not Quite Hollywood'.

It is odd. The films he produces are not that good either. I mean Hostel or Hell ride? I really don't understand that. I mean he is one of the best screen writers and directors ever. He is up their with Kubrick and Scorsese, and I think he is better than legendary director Sidney Lumet. Anyway his list is odd,but he is an odd guy, which is why I love him.

I agree that Tarantino is one of the best and Pulp Fiction would probably be number one on my list if I sat down and thought about it but his list is odd.

Yup, one of my favourites, which is quite unknown, made the cut. Battle Royale is a great movie, and one of the best Japanese movies of all time. However, I would have thought he would also have chosen ichi the serial killer.
Also, Shaun of the Dead is one of the better (comedy) horror movies.
Speed is good, but never have made my top-20, same as Police Story 3, nor Team America: World Police (WTF?)

But, for anyone who has not yet seen 'Battle Royale', please do. It is highly advisable!
