Q | Opinions Open...Do YOU think President Obama is doing a great job in America? http://twtpoll.com/bjhf97 #twtpoll

I've read the job approval ratings that are political in nature; however, I'm wondering, what the people really think. Briefly, answer the poll question and then state your brief opinion here on whether you THINK he is doing a good job or not. I'm interested in comparing political polls vs. common sense answers. Thank you.

I wish that you had said a "good" job rather than a great job, but I voted yes. Is he making some mistakes? Yes. Will these mistakes cause us some problems in the future? Yes.
But overall we are experiencing a rebirth of hope and optimism. And these are the qualities that America thrives on most. These are the qualities that cause two unemployed guys in a garage to invent something that will become spectacular. These are the qualities that convince a girl that she can do anything. These are the qualities that cause teachers to work harder to get kids to learn, to cause ministers to exhort their congregations to live better lives, and to cause the average guy on the street to be walk proud, confident that his kids will live in a better world because they live in America.

#twtpoll NO.

Common sense shows he is going about saving the economy totally wrong.
The economy got into trouble because people got into too much credit - borrowing on credit cards or getting mortgages they could not have afforded.
How is throwing away all this money and encouraging people to spend more (rather than pay the consequences of their irrational behavior) is going to solve anything?
It will just make matters worse - if not immediately, in a year or two.

Plus, he is too soft on Iran.

#twtpoll yes!

He's a honest hard working president, which is not a snob. I think he needs some time (and luck), and in time he'll make history.

You know I voted for President Obama and so far I am not impressed. Then again he has been in office for less then a year. I think the continuation bailout plans are utterly absurd. A $200.00 refund check to individuals is not going to jump start the economy. I just bought some new games with mine lol. Fuel prices are starting to climb again. College tuition is rising which is a big concern for me financially. However on the pro side he is trying to work with the Cubans. However a lot of work still needs to be done. I would love to be able to study in Cuba since I am a history major. The embargo of the 50s and 60's does not apply to today's political arena. I think President Obama really does have good intentions for this country, but is having a rough start.

You make a lot of good points, but I'd like to add that college tuition goes up every year. This year, they just get to use the blanketed "it's the economy" excuse.

No.

Arguably the signature piece of legislation he's signed since taking office is the stimulus bill, which has taken government spending to unprecedented levels in just a few months (the government ran out of money in April of this year, the earliest that's ever happened (article)).

The unbelievable level of government spending has drawn sharp criticism, most recently from Obama himself: "President Barack Obama, (called) current deficit spending “unsustainable”

Said Obama: "we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt" and "It will have a dampening effect on our economy." (article).

So even the president doesn't seem to think that he's doing a 'great' job.

Yes, I do think President Obama is doing a great job, and if he can't get the job done, then no one can. He is facing almost impossible problems and he is taking action on many challenges all at the same time. He has already improved our image abroad more than anyone in recent years.

Yes, I am also not American and from my perspective he seems to a respectable leader for the USA. It's too early to tell if he's going to get all crazy (like Bush did)

It's too early to tell. There were performance polls being conducted on this president before he even took office.

Answers to this question at this early stage are not performance-based, they're politically-based.

Attempts to answer the question from a performance-based view would likely be viewed, correctly so, as political, for example; No, I don't believe he's done a good job as president because he has expanded government and seems to intend to do so even more.

I'm saying that he's done a good job, actually, with the excutive requirements of his position, but because my ideals are contrary to the direction he's taking the country, I'm not inclined to say so.

i'm not really interested in political polls. the news changes everyday. thanks for more of an answer. i do think we should stay on top of things so that makes the question interesting. if there is not a tomorrow, then yes, we have an opinion today. unfortunately, most people always think the grass is greener on the other side until it is too late. realistically, there is a tomorrow, so that makes opinions today more important than we all realize.
