What are the parameters for a H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic? How many need to vaccinated?

In order for a contagious infection to spread in a community, the virus has to linger around for awhile. If enough people are vaccinated, the virus will die out and the pandemic will not happen. What are the parameters that influence the eventual outcome. I heard that a virtual epidemic was studied in an online MMORPG. Any references to that also would be helpful.
