How many Chinese people smoke? Does anyone have stats on this? I'd also appreciate views on the attached video of a small child smoking?
I've provided some extra detail below and would greatly value any input Mahaloians may have:
Is smoking recognised as dangerous inside China within the health professions?
Does anyone know what the taxation charges on tobacco are like inside China?
Is smoking actually discouraged within Chinese society?

According to the article I found from 2005, about 36% of all Chinese people smoke. There are no laws against selling cigarettes to children, so children smoke there, too. At the time the article was published, a new commission had just been formed to try to discourage young people from smoking, and a law was in the process of being passed to add warning labels to cigarettes for the very first time.
