When you visit your friends/family and if you notice that the aspect ratio on their TV is not set right, do you feel the urge to fix it?

When I see that the TV sets are not properly set up, distorted picture due to incorrect aspect ratio, disproportionate zoom (SD to widescreen), I immediately feel the urge to grab the remote and set it right (of course only where I can take the liberty to do so). Some people don't even realize that it is not set right apart from how to do it.

So is the case with anything in the household - like computers and stuff. Even on the computer desktop and sat receiver channel guide, etc. to list a few. Everything has to be neatly kept. What do you call this?

Some may suggest that you have OCD, I say that this is perfectly normal. We all have our own little pet peeves. Those that have an area of expertise may be erred by others who are not "doing it right". Trust me, I work in healthcare and feel the need to correct people when they are spreading false info and speaking of things that are quite impossible. However, if this goes past electronics you could simply be a perfectionist. Although this can be a symptom of obsessive compulsive disorder, you would have to exhibit more than this to be classified as such. In addition, maybe you just have a high level of intelligence and are a little quirky. Nothing wrong with that. I don't think you are a freak or have any serious issues though. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain.

Much of it is caused by devices that aren't really ready for the transition, like DVD players and DVRs, as well as old cable boxes. As these devices are retired in favor of ones that are designed for the new digital signal, hopefully we'll see more and more devices that communicate with the TV correctly about aspect ratio.

Meantime, I propose that we call your problem "feeling irRATIOnal."

I have the same problem anytime I use a friend's or family member's computer! I always have to download CCleaner and Malwarbyte's Anti-Malware and clean up their computers, making it smoother and malware free. Good to see that there are other people out there like me.. I was starting to get worried.

Yeah I do, but then I end up messing it up even more because I don't know where the buttons are on other people's remotes so I just press everything :p

I have and I will just mention it because most guys don't want anyone to mess with their t.v. Although my mom is the same way--don't touch the tube! My girl friends don't care.
