Vampire or Werewolf? Which would you rather become?

After writing How to Become a Vampire and How to Become a Werewolf last week for Mahalo, I have been trying to decide which I would rather be. I've been a "fan" of both.

Pro Vampire:
1. Seems sexier.
2. Angel of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
3. I already have the pale complexion.

Con Vampire
1. You're dead.
2. Drinking blood--I like my meat well done.
3. Claustrophobic, so coffins will be an issue.
4. Fear of attracting necrophiliacs

Pro Werewolf
1. Less of a lifestyle, more of a "hobby"
2. Wouldn't have to shave my legs.
3. Seems more "social" with the whole pack thing.

Con Werewolf
1. Risk of becoming a cannibal.
2. Attracts people who like bestiality.

So right now, I am leaning toward werewolf. Any thoughts? Which would you choose?

For the purposes of discussion, I'm going to go with generic ideas of vampires and werewolves. I mean, if we got into a discussion comparing Anne Rice vampires to Dresden Files vampires to White Wolf vampires to 30 Days of Night vampires or comparing Dresden Files lycanthropes to White Wolf werewolves to werewolves with Chinese menus in their hands, then we'd be here all day!

So, without further ado, for me, the disadvantages of being a vampire greatly outweigh the disadvantages of being a werewolf.

First of all, werewolves aren't stuck with the curse of immortality. With vampires, you're either cursed with having your loved ones die while you stay the same age, or you make them a vampire and you have to deal with them for all eternity. I don't care how much you love someone, after a few hundred years, living with that person will become intolerable. Even without someone else to share eternity, I think that the pressure of the centuries with nothing but millennia to look forward to is the path to madness, and I don't think I could deal with that.

Secondly, lycanthropes are 24-hour creatures. They can operate in the daytime or the nighttime. Vampires are pretty much stuck indoors for half the day on average. While I am generally a night owl, I don't like having that schedule forced on me by physiology on pain of death.

Thirdly, the things that kill vampires are in far more abundance than the things that kill werewolves. Something as simple as feeling the sun on your face will make you look like you just opened up the Ark of the Covenant if you're a vampire. There aren't a whole lot of people that have silver bullets hanging around.

Hmmmm, I think Vampire. More considerations below!

Pro Vampire:
Immortal
Can become a bat and fly

Con Vampire:
No garlic!
Personally grooming is hard without a mirror.

Pro Werewolf:
You apparently become a fantastic basketball player.

Con Werewolf:
That whole losing complete control of yourself thing every 28 days.

Darcy, Queen of the Werewolves?

(BTW, I'm talking normal werewolves and vampires here, not any of those crappy myths Twilight pulled out of nowhere.)

I'm leaning towards vampire, because being a werewolf is a compulsive thing when there's a full moon, and you lose control of yourself completely and let the animal instincts take control.

Sure, I would miss the sun, I guess, but really, the advantages of being a vampire are so much better. You get to turn into a bat, hypnotize people, speak with a funny accent.

So, yeah, full vampire for me.

And don't let anything like Twilight or Underworld deceive you. I can still be a faithful subject if I'm a vampire and you're a mutt. I mean, werewolf.

There are a lot of other drawbacks to being a traditional vampire. No sunbathing. No swimming. You are expected to dress for dinner. All the time! And your dinner can't have garlic.

On the other hand, you live, or perhaps unlive, for a very long time.

Werewolves get to dress casually, if at all. But they don't usually seem to enjoy themselves. They are usually snarling or in some kind of rage. The werewolves of Diskworld are an exception. Werewolves don't seem to get any longevity bonus.

I'd rather be a Sasquatch.

Look Im going to make this as simplistic as possible. Definitely vampire. I mean really if your a guy there is no question. Vampires can hypnotize women to do what they want. I challenge a guy to say werewolf.

Another vote for vampire! First, I'm a serious control freak when it comes to my personal habits, so the whole being-out-of-my-mind, wild killer thing doesn't appeal. Besides, I might hurt someone I like.
I'd seriously regret the lack of garlic and sun, but as Darcy pointed out, I've already got the pallor anyhow. I'm guessing that cozy-home feeling of a coffin would override the claustrophobia. But, as pointed out in Ann Rice's books, now we have wide screen TVs so I can watch sunrises that way.
Finally...I'd have time to do all the research I want!! YES! I'd be able to have multiple careers until I was bored and moved on! Unlimited time! Really long lasting friendships! AH-HA-HA-HA!
It might be worth the bad breath.

I really wish I could say werewolf, but I cannot. I'd rather become a vampire, hands down. I just could not deal with all of that werewolf hair. Plus, vampires have cool teeth, and I look great in black. The whole "drinking blood" thing would really suck, though.

I was going to say werewolf, because it's only problematic part-time (hobby not lifestyle). But then I remembered that I've always thought it would be cool to learn a bunch of languages and such so the immortality thing would be a big bonus there, so vampire. But then I remembered I'm a Christian so as long as I stay tight with God I get eternity to do all that stuff anyhow, so back to werewolf. But then I'm fairly modest so turning back to human in public and being naked would be an uncomfortable situation for me, so maybe vampire again. But then there's the very significant no leg-shaving pro to werewolfdom . . .

Maybe I'll just stay human?

Werewolf It suits my personality more. On the outside calm, collected, and good looking. On the inside a passion driven beast pursuing my desires and ripping my enemies to bloody bits as needed.

Vampire because they have powers. Being a werewolf seems like it would be a pain in the butt.

I think that I would be a werewolf. If you're a werewolf, at least you can turn your friends into werewolves too, and not many people have silver bullets. If you're a vampire you either outlive your friends, kill your friends, or get exorcised.
