If you are diagnosed with Bi-Polar does that make you a maniac?

Does being manic mean you are technically a maniac?

If this is a question about yourself, or someone you are close with, you should ask your / or their doctor.

Manic means "hyper"

Bi-polar means serious mood swings between hyper and very depressed.
Bi (two) poles that are opposite.

A maniac means "crazy person".

Which just isn't a nice thing to say. So I won't say it.

Thank you for the distinction. I just realized that Manic and maniac were so close I wanted to see if they were with one another.

hi. I see what you mean. Yes, in the "old days", they used to say people were "crazy". Now we're all crazy and it's a compliment! :) There is also a lot of confusion between "Multiple personality disorder" and "schizoprenia". If you're curious about that, view the National Alliance for Mental Illness http://www.nami.org above.
