She got interested in the so-called parapsychological phenomena following her own out-of-body experience which convinced her, at the very personal, emotional level, of the reality of PSI.
Following some ten years of futile and frustrating scientific research in the field, she got disenchanted, and turned skeptic. The decision to quit PSI research was just as emotional and subjective a response, a reflection of personal disappointment, rather than a certain conviction that ESP is not real - note that she talks about BELIEF, both, when she talks about her original thoughts and expectations, as well as her present skepticism, which could just as well be described as "lack of belief" in paranormal:
~quote~
I no longer believe that the search for paranormal phenomena will provide insight into the “big questions” of life - though when I started out on my career in parapsychology I was sure it would. I really believed that studying the paranormal would help me with such mysteries as “What kind of world is this? What am I? and How should I live my life?
~end quote~
So, she is, and perhaps always was, "projecting her emotions".
She tried to study the paranormal within the confines of scientific epistemology, which is something of a contradiction in terms considering her own notion that these phenomena challenge very foundations of modern Western scientific worldview. It's little bit like trying to study and understand Galileo's astronomical observations, while staying within the limits of medieval scholastic philosophy.
Certainly, there were "genuine UFO events" in the last 30 years!

Dr Blackmore - in 30 years NO GENUINE UFO EVENT is she rational ?
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2943325&l=7d28d1e6e9&id=601671320
there are miles of official footage e.g. Mexican airforce - yet Blackmore continues to use a UNIVERSAL term - i.e. NO genuine ufo - surely she should concede the universal and absolute opinion - and state that SOME UFO EVENTS are GENUINE and SOME are Not.
Is she being professionally irrational or is she projecting her emotions ?
