Is there an SDK for the verizon application store? Are there any plans for one?

I was wanting to develop some applications for my verizon phone since their app store is kind of lacking. Is there an SDK or are there plans to do something like Apple has done with the iPhone App Store?

Verizon does offer features and downloads on their phones. Directly from your phone you can go to the "media center" and find different games and applications for download, or you can peruse them on the Verizon website.
