This has been my first year living along the Gulf Shores, and I have found that a very light weight material is best.

Since the rains here offer no respite from the stifling heat, you need something that breathes. I will also say that the fewer layers of clothing you have on, the better!

I haven't owned a raincoat in about 15 years; I'd never wear it, even if I did! I just walk in the rain anyways, unless it's torrential downpour; and if it is, I simply stay inside.... or go anyways. A little rain never hurt anyone! If it's cold, I wear a sweater! And if I need to go an extended distance I just take the bus or a cab.
However, living in Ontario, we have very hot summers and very cold winters. In spring and fall the rain can be quite cold (and it of course snows rather than rains in winter). I guess I'd either need two raincoats, a thin one and a very heavy one, or some sort of "combo" raincoat that has a removable heavy lining.

Enjoy!

At times! Only a couple times a year though :) It's actually surprisingly mild most of the time.. but the last couple weeks have shown us some intense wind and thunderstorms, including a night without power and more lightening than I'd ever seen in my life. The humidity is crazy at the moment!

I was on my way home on the bus a couple months ago and I was noticing the sky was a little cloudy and all of a sudden it started POURING (more than that video).. it lasted maybe 5 minutes but we couldn't see 3 feet infront of us, had to stop the bus, and a few roads were flooded out!

I pretty much stick to umbrellas here in south Louisiana. It's too hot most of the time for the raincoats that I used to wear living up north.

When commuting by bicycle I used to wear poncho and rainpants, since an umbrella is impractical on a bike.

An umbrella; something else I haven't owned in years! More trouble than they're worth!

Umbrellas in New Orleans: most of the time you use them because it's raining. If it's not raining, you probably need them to keep off the beating sun. Once in a while the weather is nice, then you use them to dance with.

I always pictured you using a beer umbrella. I'm not sure why...?

I have a Guinness umbrella and a Beck's umbrella. But, often as not I use my Jazzfest umbrella.

I just wear a hoodie and run fast I'm pretty used to the rain I was born and raise in the pacific northwest and still live on the Oregon coast I have just learned to wear skinny jeans because they don't drag and get wet and to not worry about how my hair looks.
