How do you break a 10 year olds spitting habbit?

He is almost 11 years old.
He spits EVERYWHERE just because he thinks it is fun.
Its gross and embarasing.
Please help.

It is funny, but I still remember how I was broken of this habit when I was in 4th grade (9). The next time your child spits in public, warn them that the next time they do it they will have to fill an entire baby food jar with spit and they have to continue till they are done. Continue doing this every time they break the rule and the behaviour should change. I don't even think I was able to fill up one jar and I never had to do it again.

If he is your bro, I think that he also spits EVERYWHERE because he realizes that it makes you react.

Maybe he is only trying to get attention. Pretend not to care about it, I doubt he will think it is fun if people around show no reaction.

If he's your little brother a good smack across his head or a punch in the arm will do the trick. You give him five dead-arms and he's done.
