I've found independent media - bloggers - to be the most trustworthy, but as always, you must be selective. Ideally, look for someone both interested and educated in their subject area. Find one that has a good set of regular commenters who are willing and allowed to post their corrections, objections, and dissent. Look especially for signs of the blogger who will correct themselves when they are proven wrong. And most of all, look for someone willing to criticize all the political parties.
The best source I've found thus far is a gentleman from Michigan named Ed Brayton. He offers a blog, a weekly podcast, and articles in an independent journal, the Michigan Messenger.

I love both Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert, but both of them have entertainment/comedy shows that tend do direct the type of stories they cover.
I think Bill Moyers is the most honest commentator I can think of and always invites very interesting guests to discuss the issues (including both Republicans and Democrats... at the same time... with no yelling!).

In addition to his current book, “Independents Day: Awakening the American Spirit,” he is also the author of the New York Times bestseller “War on the Middle Class,” the best-selling book “Exporting America” and co-author of “Space.”
Dobbs has won nearly every major award for television journalism. In 2005, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Dobbs the Emmy for Lifetime Achievement.

Well, they most likely aren't from Pennsylvania or Chicago, that is for sure.

I don't really think that their are any political commentators who I'd classify as trustworthy. The best I know of would be not the most trustworthy, but the least unreliable, and it would probably be somebody who is an independent, just because they are kind of moderates between the Democrats and Republicans.

I'd have to say Sean Hannity. He's either intellectually lazy or a liar. He repeats bumper sticker slogans as informed debate. When proven wrong, he continues the same line. Ugh. A poster child for intellectual dishonesty.

Sigh, yes. Forgive me, all. It's been a long, mind-warping day. Yes, Hannity is the most UNtrustworthy.
