From a european perspective I believe that the new administration should focus on 3 major policy areas,

1. Foreign Policy - Gradual reduction in troops in Iraq with a middle east reactionary force somewhere in the gulf as and when needed.
2. Environmental Policy - Reduction in green house gas tied to a global treaty, achieving the balance with economic stimulus, maybe its time to bail out US car makers who commit to reduction in greenhouse gas ie less Hummers more Hybrids/Electric.
3. Economic Stimulus Policy - Get the economy back on track, focus on light touch regulation of the banking industry and bring back more manufacturing into the US Economy rather than services.

How about reduced funds bleeding out to foreign governments? Is that also part of your "Foreign Policy" suggestion? If we'd stop worrying about other countries and start worrying about our own we wouldn't have near as many of the issues we have in this day. The problem is that people want the US to help them feed their people, clothe their people and defend their people but do not want to attribute the credit where it's due.

Pull out of the Middle East, stop throwing money away on people who don't appreciate all they've been given, and focus on becoming a positive model for "industrialized and civilized countries" is exactly what we need to do. The problem is, that wasn't the question. The question wasn't what we think we need to do. It was what do we think THEY WILL DO.

I believe they're going to start by fixing the economy by offering various tax breaks and other incentives. They will also start pulling out of Iraq.

I expect to see a mask of a good job. I expect there to be problems in iraq that will continue to delay the withdrawal; even though Obama said he would send more troops to afghanistan. (He is just moving them from Iraq to Afghanistan). But people wouldn't mind because they would say... "At least he's better than McCain would have been. And they could let him get away with a lot, because he's better than McCain. But honestly, If you understand how the Federal Reserve Banking Cartel works... You realize that any politician that actually cares about the people, would get rid of it immediately. Because the media just covers their mistakes, but all of our problems are because of the Federal Reserve. look at my source for more information.

I would expect them to start finishing one of our current outstanding foreign policy issues to demonstrate that they are competent.

i.e., capturing Osama Bin Laden finally or making a clearer point about when we'll be out of Iraq. Possibly an escalation in Afghanistan

That's just on the foreign policy side, I'm not sure what to say on economic issues.

I guess you haven't heard about it before. The Afghanistan government a while back said that they would hand over Bin Laden if there is any evidence he had anything to do with 9/11...The U.S. asked 3 times, and three times they replied with the same answer. Then mysteriously the U.S. army found a tape in a Afghan tent that showed "Bin Laden" (A much tanner, and chubbier version) talking about how he did the attacks. You should also look at the FBI's most wanted list, where they don't charge Bin Laden with the case of 9/11... it's pure bs. (http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/fugitives/laden.htm)

I have to say I don't quite understand your point, youanden. Are you saying that Bin Laden wasn't responsible for 9/11 (which is irrelevant to what I said) or are you saying, well, what are you saying?

* Passage of a more substantial economic recovery plan.
* Hopefully some reversal of the last-minute administrative rules changes the Bush Administration is currently pushing through.

I expect to see that he'll have to backpedal on some of the things he said during the campaign, because once he has better information he'll realize that what he was thinking won't work the way he thought it would.

I believe that we will see one of the most transparent and eloquent leaders in American history, straight from the gate. His policy focus will be on job creation and economic stability.

1. Print more money to fight deflation (ie borrow from privately owned Federal Reserve).
2. Pull out of Iraq? Troops will be left to protect the higher salaried private mercenary forces not to mention the Cost Plus contracts of KBR and others.
3. Gun control - only criminals, "terrorists" and the government will be allow to carry, own, operate.

Pessimistic? Maybe, I hope I am totally wrong.

What? Print money against deflation?! The people that cause deflation are the same people who can fix it. The Fraudulent Federal Reserve. lol, are you serious. That's like the worst idea ever. It won't solve anything. If you want to understand how money works I would suggest you see "Zeitgeist Addendum" -- It is properly sourced and is easy to understand. Probably one of the best documentaries you can see right now.
