How true the charges are is probably what you mean, though. We won't know about that until the investigation publishes its findings.
There are many things that could happen. He is not currently a senator, and it would be doubtful that he could be elected to anything. He would probably have to write memoirs in order to generate income.
According to the following article, converting campaign funds carries maximum penalties of 5 years in prison and $250K fine. I don't that conversion will be a charge, but that is one crime for which I could find the guidelines.

Keep in mind that the Feds are now The Democrats. And I guess how serious it is depends on how serious honesty and ethics are in our elected officials. How true the charges are is probably what you mean, though. We won't know about that until the investigation publishes its findings.
