I'm not fine with it, but other than write our elected officials and send aid donations it doesn't seem like there's a lot the average U.S. citizen can do. It really irks me that Israel, which is on the whole a pretty modern, well-to-do nation, receives so much aid from the U.S. Personally I'd prefer to help the people with the least in life first, for example, children in the U.S. who are homeless or orphaned, rather than subsidize the Israeli military.

"Israel has large income from heavy tourism, as well as from donations from individuals and organizations around the world. USA is aiding Israeli economy at the level of US$ 3 billion annually, of which 1,8 billion is allocated to military expenses, the remaining to the civil economy of Israel. Since Israeli economy still runs on heavy deficits, the country cannot be without this help, even if the recent governments have declared economic independence as of its main objectives."

"...the sheer amount of aid the U.S. gives to Israel, unparalleled in the history of U.S. foreign policy. Israel usually receives roughly one third of the entire foreign aid budget, despite the fact that Israel comprises less than .001 of the worldÿs population and already has one of the world's higher per capita incomes. In other words, Israel, a country of approximately 6 million people, is currently receiving more U.S. aid than all of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean combined when you take out Egypt and Colombia."

Not happy about it, but yea I'm fine with it. If Israel can finally pull the carpet out from Hamas the Palestinians would be able to prosper and grow like a normal people. It's unfortunate that Hamas wants to wipe Israel off the map and keeps shooting rockets into Israel. If only Hamas would say they want peace with Israel and stop their agressive actions, Israel would work with them. The world would demand it eventually. Everything is going according to plan and right on schedule. It will work out perfectly. :-)

OK as long as they will hit the "correct" targets. But what about the current collateral damage: the by-accident killed or heavily injured civiliants? (Remember: there are only about 2.500 hospital beds for 1,25 million people.) Not to forget the totally destroyed infrastructure. Isn't it a desaster?

Yes, most of us have been thoroughly disgusted by decades of Palestinian terrorism and feel that whatever Israel tries to do to stop it is worth trying.
