"The owner of the Baydan Shoe Company further informed that most of the orders for Model 271 had come from the U.S. and Britain and also from the neighboring Muslim countries. The majority of the orders have arrived from Iraq and the figure is a stunning 120,000. A company in the United States has placed an order for 18,000 pairs of shoes. A British firm has agreed to become the European distributor of the shoes."

It is too soon to answer this question. Several shoe manufacturers have claimed to have made the shoes. The thrower's brother claims that the thrower specifically chose to buy a new pair of Iraqi made shoes. However, there are reports that the shoes were destroyed. Also, the thrower himself is still in jail and not allowed to speak to the press or public. Personally, it seems unlikely to me that the Turkish company's claim is legitimate. Either he was wearing the usual cheap Chinese shoes sold in Iraq, or he bought them especially for symbolism, and would have chosen Iraqi made shoes. Perhaps when he is released from jail we will know with more certainty.

- Fact Refuted
These are just a random illustration of shoes, and from a quite ignorant web site at that. We are talking about a middle class reporter's shoes.
