I think he is trying to do the best with what he has to work with, the problem is that we let the people that hate government run it and now he is trying to clean up the mess, he was left with a recession, and job losses, two wars, (well none actually since Bush declared mission accomplished in 2003) huge budget and trade deficits, Bush inherited a surplus and thought it would be a good idea to run up debt to give tax cuts to the idle rich. When Reagan took office unemployment was 7.4% and went down to 7% in the summer of 1981 then when his policies took hold it went to 10.8% by the end of 1982, then later on in his administration they said that full employment was 5% when historically full employment was 2%. They also ran up a lot of debt, and don’t give me this nonsense about the percentage of GDP they knew what they were doing and it was a full on assault on the middle class. And the imported products came in. Clinton tried to reverse some of the trends and I suspect that once Obama has a chance he will try to make things better for most people. But the cons cannot stand a country where most people have a decent standard of living.

I personally think so. But remember that whether or not someone is doing well is all dependant on personal opinion, and there isn't always necessarily a set answers.

Mr. Obama is doing very well at this situation of recession and confusion. He is not getting into another war. We can see that he putting a lot of effort to put an end to this recession. African American or not, he is a great president for USA.
He is always trying to make every situation a win-win.
I admire his leadership qualities. I feel blessed to get inspired by him.

Every new president has a honeymoon phase and then the approval rating starts falling. For this administration, the honeymoon phase is over and now his approval rating is going down. However, compared to most, his approval rating is falling much slower than the average. He is a very popular president. By the look of the teabagging going on a couple of months ago, you would have thought his approval rating was less than 20%. I guess some people just whine louder than others.

I dont think he is doing well. He has tripled our national deficit, and yeah he has not gotten us in another war, but north korea is threatening us and Obama said "lets just wait and see". I dont think we should bomb them at this point, but its not a good idea to wait and see. Do we wait and see after a nuc bomb hits LA?????? Or what???

I understand you have to spend money to relieve this bad economy, but to triple national deficit with in the first few months of being pres is not ideal in my mind.

Why change our healthcare when reports show 80% of americans are okay with the current program. Instead of increasing taxes lets try to lower them in this economy. Maybe he should push to encourage health care providers to become non-profit like kaiser permanente.

Is it a good idea to leave iraq in the situation it is in? No body likes war, but to make the same mistake we did when we left afghanistan before it recovered (im referring back when Russia invaded Afghanistan). We left that place in ruins w/o rebuilding it and look, terrorist occupied it because there was no stable govt.

I do have faith in our govt. and our president, but im slowly losing it.

Closing guantanamo bay, releasing some prisoners because the information is classified and they cant be trialed is a mistake. Think, if a country held you for years in a prison and tortured (lets hope people were not tortured, but it appears maybe they were), you would have a vendetta against that country. You would not like it and possibly would want to do harm. Atleast some people would.

Personally, i dont want as much change as Obama wants. Why change things 180, when programs just need some re-adjustments. Some change is good, but drastic change is bad.

Call me crazy, but we are moving into a socialistic govt. Which sucks!!! Obama wants to remove the 2 term limit on presidents... WHY???? If this occurs then one party will take hold and it will never be lost. Look at IRAN, their current pres will make sure he is re-elected term after term.

Obama has done some good things but i guess we will just see what happends in the next 3 years. I hope everything works out! Im not by any means anti obama, im just not for many of the things he is proposing. We need to get out of iraq, but we need to do it when their own govt is stable. Dont let history repeat itself. Since 9/11 we have not had any attacks on USA, dont forget about that. Keep these radicals on the run and disrupt any plans they have on attacking any country, not just US of A.

you are anti Obama, do you even know what socialism is, and debt has not tripled yet, when it does you can tell us that was Obamas fault but until then, let it go, talk radio is not a good source of information. Bush released over 500 terror suspects, I think Obama has released something like, even if they do close Gitmo, which I dont think they should, it is not like they are just going to let these people walk

They are going to let some prisoners from gtmo walk because the information holding them is classified and will not be released during their court date, thus they wont be convicted of any crimes w/o proof. And i didnt say debt... i said deficit.

http://www.treasurydirect.gov/news/pressroom/pressroom_bpd08052004.htm

Im not anti obama, i was actually semi-excited when he was elected, juszt now seeing what he has done has decreased my interest in him.

Nope i have never heard of socialism. Is it socializing with your friends?

I dont believe everyone needs to be equal, or equal distribution of goods, but i do however believe everyone should have equal opportunities. Not everyone needs to have an equal education, but everyone needs the opportunity to attain an equal education! Therefore the people who work harder deserve better and bigger benefits.

Hope that clarifies my POV

Obama is decreasing the incentive to work by having a higher tax for people making 250k+. Also, when you get more money on wealth fare than you would if you work a minimum wage job... then there is a HUGE flaw in the system. Why work when you get more money by being on wealth fare.

I really don't. I think that many people had high hopes for him, and he is just not measuring up. Some of it was hype and media, but some of it is due to his overly optimistic promises (like lowering the ocean levels) and his grand theatrical appeal (like the styrofoam pillars). I think many people voted their hearts instead of their heads, and now is the time for the best man for the job not the man we wanted most to succeed.

He has socialist ideas, yet socialism has never worked in history. You'd think one of the world's smartest men, a graduate from Harvard and a world leader would be able to learn from the mistakes of the past.

The idea that everyone is equal (wealth wise) will not work for a successful country. The capitilism of America made it the financial leader of the world and Wall Street was the place to be. Well, you might say, look at what's happened now. It's a disaster. So? The only way it will pick itself back up is if the 'fat cats' that Obama is working against start spending again. Besides, there's a saying.

The lower you fall, the higher you'll fly.

It works vice versa as well.

Just my opinion.

A saying, we tried the system where we did not have much of a middle class before Roosevelt and we had depressions about every 20 years, the world has changed since then and the cons want to have system of very limited government and where everyone is for themselves, Mexico basically does not have much of a social safety net or a middle class and look at them, Somalia has practically no government and look at that country, they are not booming. we have to compete with the world and if we remove everything the government does we will get left behind.

I think he's doing a pretty good job. The poor and homeless are receiving more money. But i don't think sending troops to Afghanistan would be a good idea.

President Obama's foreign relations are such a refreshing change from what we have seen. I am not happy about the deficit, but he is also not the cause of this. He has been trying to fix a problem that top officials new was coming as early as March 2008. Yes, they knew the recession was coming that long ago. I believe he's doing a good job.

I believe he is doing a good job. It is a hard job. Lots of publicity. Lots of fans. Lots of hate mail. The "race issue". I don't rate whether or not he is doing a "good job" based on his "race". He is a person, just a human being. :) He seems to care a lot about his family, his wife, daughers. I think that's great!
