Could an invasion of North Korea be justified?

North Korea has been angering the international community lately by testing a nuclear bomb and having missile launches while the North Korean people starve. Such actions makes me wonder if an invasion of North Korea would be supported? If so then what kind of invasion, one that is limited to removal of equipment and resources to prevent the creation of WMDs or something similar to the invasion of Iraq?

There are a couple of reasons for it, and a couple of reasons why we haven't already.

We should because
1. They have shut themselves completely off from the world, which does little to promote peace.
2. The leader glorifies himself to be a god and if you do not treat him like one, you can be at least imprisoned for at least 10 years.
3. They have been making nuclear missiles for the longest time and are the biggest producer of all the world.
4. They let their people suffer.
5. If you are a democratic nation, you will say it is also because they are communist.

We haven't already because
1. We do not have extra money for war. Most nations that could do a full scale assault are in a deep deficit.
2. They would send their nukes at us, we sent them to them, someone else sends them to someone else, and we have a Nuclear Fallout on our hands where no one wins.
3. No people would support a government starting war, especially in this economy.
4. They haven't done anything to anyone (so far) so we do not have a reason to invade, so if we do, the world goes against us.
5. If we do not make war, we can focus on more important issues, such as solving the gasoline crisis.

I do agree with you though, we should stop them, it's just that the only option would be a covert assassination of their leader or something.

I would think an invasion on North Korea is inevitable. Obviously, a lot of people are concerned about testing of nuclear bombs and missile launches.

Let's put it this way: right now, we're threatening North Korea to stop it, like a parent trying to tell their kid to sit in the corner for their bad actions. However, once one of their bombs / missiles crosses over into US territory, people will start to panic. What is the government to do? Invasion. It's just going to happen.

As for what kind of invasion, probably defensive. I doubt the US would be like, "Let's go! Blow up the place!" -- no, no. We'll probably be more defensive about it and try to calmly get them to stop testing with as minimal threat as possible to North Korean society. We'll probably try to remove their equipment and resources of making bombs and missiles because of this.

This is just my two cents on this issue. Obviously, there are going to be other opinions, so don't take this all as *fact*

Have a nice day :)

1. The attack might begin with artillery and missiles capable of hitting South Korea, Seoul, population 10 million, 35 miles south of DMZ. The attack could come with little or no warning repeating historical tactics.
2. North Korea's army is the fourth largest army with 1.2 million troops with 7 million reserves, 1,700 military aircraft, 800 naval vessels, and 13,000 artillery pieces. Much of North Korea's equipment is old. North Korea would depend on support from Russia and China.
3. The South has a superior Air Force and could overpower the North Navy.
4. North Korea could be reached by Air Force Jets in Japan in 30 minutes.
5. The US Navy's 7th fleet has two destroyers focused on North Korea at all times. (Probably the strongest weapon in the world and a good reason for not believing North Korea would attack South Korea)
6. Jong wants to posture and get world attention.

Can an invasion of South Korea be supported? There are nuclear weapons in South Korea aimed at North Korea under control of the only country which has ever used nuclear weapons and continues to test and develop new nuclear weapons. A country which is threatening to attack North Korea. Would there be support for a limited attack on South Korea to remove these nuclear weapons and eliminate this threat to North Korea?
