Blog article:"With two WSOP cashes already in the bank this year to go with two last year, Allen Kessler is a well known face on the poker circuit. What he may be better known for, among us media types, is his 'always ready with a quote' personality. So I couldn't pass this story up, even though I might be accused here of sloppy seconds.
The HORSE event is a very tricky beast to structure. With the five rotating events the blind and betting structure can be just fine in one event and then be totally out of whack in the next. The problem is that Hold'em and Omaha have a flop and you see 71% or 78% of your total hand after just one round of betting. In the Stud and Razz events you have five rounds of betting with a single card addition in each of the last four rounds.
So Allen was upset when in the $50,000 HORSE event, the players found themselves with an average stack of 115K in a new Razz round with a 1K ante and 4K/8K blinds. One called down hand is (1+4+4+8+8+8=33K) or a third of your stack; toss in two raises and its half your stack; and if you cap a round of two, you are all-in. Allen's point was that the change from Hold'em (H)and Omaha (O) to three straight seven card drawn games (R,S,E) had turned the pretigious $50,000 event into a crap shoot. He was suggesting that a full round of no betting/blind increases should be considered in such a major event. Interesting point, worth considering perhaps?(1a)
Well apparently not because Allen had given this commentary to another poker media site and although they put it up, it was removed within a few hours. Freedom of the Press at the World Series seems to depend on who is signing your check.

About Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler nicknamed “Chainsaw” is a 40-year-old professional poker player residing in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. An academician, Kessler graduated from Temple University and worked as an internet marketing professional. His sharp intellect and understanding of numbers has helped Allen Kessler become a seasoned player on the poker circuit.
On his first casino visit, Allen Kessler carried only $200 with him out of fear of losing more than he could afford. However, with his mathematic skills, Kessler took to poker right away and started playing regularly in Atlantic City.
Allen Kessler then decided to try his hand at the tournament circuit and in 2001, he attended the World Series of Poker, where he finished a respectable 16th in the $5,000 Omaha hi-lo eight-or-better event. Kessler thrived in the casino atmosphere and he botched his first tournament win in 2004 in the $500 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event at the 2004 at the Winnin' o' the Green in Los Angeles, taking home $14,400 for his efforts.
Over the years, Allen Kessler has made several final tables, including two at the World Series Of Poker. The first of those came during the 36th edition in 2005, where Kessler finished 2nd in the $2,500 Omaha Hi/Lo event and took home earnings of $132,110. Kessler’s second WSOP final table came the following year, when he finished 4th in the $5,000 7 Card Stud event and left $76,986 richer.
Allen Kessler also has two World Poker Tour final tables to his name. The first of these came at the 2006 LA Poker Classic in Los Angeles, where Kessler finished 3rd in the WPT Invitiational No Limit Hold'em, earning $20,000. Allen Kessler’s other WPT final table came the following year at the Foxwoods Poker Classic when he finished 6th and picked up $136,452 in the $9,700 No Limit Hold'em championship event.
After his dream run from 2005 to 2007, Allen Kessler has kept up the momentum in 2008 with two event wins. The first came in the $1,000 Omaha Hi/Lo event victory at the The Wynn Classic in Las Vegas, where he picked up $52,962. His other 2008 triumph came at the Sixth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, where he came out on top in the $2,500 Super Satellite event and walked away with a cool $25,700.
Despite these good performances, Allen Kessler’s dream of winning a major tournament has yet to be realized. Kessler had a quiet showing at the 39th World Series of Poker 2008, where he participated in three events. Only managing a best finish of 31st, Kessler left Vegas with earnings of $14,256. An avid gamer and backgammon player, Allen Kessler enjoys all forms of casino gambling and live poker and already has an impressive career, with total earnings of $1,319,987." (2)

"Phil Ivey has burst onto the poker scene the last couple of years and is now considered one of the top poker players in the world and many people consider him to be the future of the game. Although he is often referred to as the "Tiger Woods" of poker, it is a name he is somewhat uncomfortable with. "Tiger is the best at his game. I'm not there, yet" says Phil. He is only 27 years old but has been playing poker professionally for 10 years. He is a highly-focused and very consistent player who often places high in the money in a lot of the tournaments he plays in. Phil finished 10th in the 2003 World Series of Poker. The only reason he didn't finished better was because Chris Moneymaker made higher full-house on the river to beat him.
Originally from California but living in Atlantic City, he is a strong seven card stud player in addition to being a strong No Limit player, as evidenced by his win at the 2002 World Series of Poker and his placement at the final table in the 2003 event."
