Please tell me, do centipedes sting or do they bite? Worried coz I have some here in my house!

Centipedes bite. They have a "pair of venom claws or forcipules formed from a modified first appendage."
And Wikipedia also says about their toxicity:
Some species of centipede can be hazardous to humans because of their bite. Although a bite to an adult human is usually only very painful, it can be dangerous to small children and those with allergies to bee stings. The bite of larger centipedes can induce anaphylactic shock in such people. Smaller centipedes usually do not puncture human skin.

I have no idea what "big" and "small" means in this article. In Hawaii, I've seen centipedes around 6 inches in length. Those were big enough for me.
You might want to consult an exterminator...
Ok, thats confirms my worries, now what do you mean by "smaller?" I mean how big (or small) do they have to be that would prevent me stamping on them. I hate killing things, and I really dont want to hurt them if they cant hurt me.
