Sony said, that there are "no plans" for a price drop. It is clever wording that keeps on their "deny it until it happens" philosophy. If you announce a price drop, or even plans for one, people will stop buying until the price drops. Sony will continue to deny it until it happens, but I would expect a price drop before year's end.

Sony is still making up ground on the Xbox and Wii so while a price drop wouldn't be significant, you may see it "on sale" or bundled with something good.

I hvae a PS3 and I like it a lot. I don't play a ton of games, but it's tough to beat as a media center that plays a good game when you want it to!

According to an official statement by a Sony rep to www.joystiq.com there will be no price drop on the PS3 this year.

That is not what Sony said. Sony said, that there are "no plans" for a price drop. It is clever wording that keeps on their "deny it until it happens" philosophy. If you announce a price drop, or even plans for one, people will stop buying until the price drops. Sony will continue to deny it until it happens, but I would expect a price drop before year's end.

It's conceivable that around Christmas time, Sony will either offer a price drop or a very good bundle. Sony is still making up ground on the Xbox and Wii so while a price drop wouldn't be significant, you may see it "on sale" or bundled with something good.
