How do you convert a ps2 saved game file (.max, .psu, .cbs, .etc) into the ps3 memory card format? (.psv)
I have a ps3 that allows me to play older ps1 and ps2 games. When I had my ps2, a way to backup the files was using ActionMax files (.max). So all my games are backed up on my computer. However, I am having trouble converting these files to .psv format so I can put them on my ps3! Help! I wanna play some of my old games again! :)

I have the memory card reader already, but that in itself does not answer my question. :) I need to convert .max files to .psv so I can use them on my ps3 (to access ps2 saved games).

Hmmm... No dice here either. This just leads me to a thread of people asking other people to convert the file for them, with no clear explanation of how to do it. I was hoping Mahalo Answers would actually prompt someone to answer my question instead of just sending me to links where the questions isn't really answered. :( @kevinbernard31: have you done this yourself?

Currently, there is no software available to convert PS2 save game files to the PSV format the PS3 uses. Simply putting those file types on a thumbdrive and importing into the PS3 won't work, even if you put them in the right directory.
However, if you have a PS2 memory card and a PS1/2 to PS3 memory card reader, you can put your old save game files on your memory card (via PC/PS1/PS2), then import them into your PS3. Once they're converted, you can copy them out of your PS3 and back onto your computer again (A smart tech-savvy individual could compare the pre- and post-conversion file differences to see what changes have been made to the file).
This process is the only known way to convert your old saves to the PSV format.
