Any game buffons? I'm stuck in the Learning to Fly mission in GTA San Andreas!! Any tips??

To be specific: There is a part where I have to shoot the targerts on the runway, the target that are moving plus I have to land the helicopter. I only manage to get 45%. How can I achive a higher score?

That is definitely one of the harder missions. I've completed GTA: SanAn several times (I'm a real addict) but it was always on the PC, so there may be a few points about the PS2 controls I don't know:

First thing is you definitely do better at the flying missions if your flying skill is reasonably high. I'd suggest going to Las Venturas (sorry, can't rememeber: is the last city even open yet?) and try the flying races in the airport (just to the right as you enter the airport gates.)

A very cool thing with the flying-races is you can take an aircraft, if you want it, place it in the hangar (once you own the abandoned airport), run away from it until the timer runs out and you'll fail the race, but gain the aircraft in your hangar. (Vigilante missions are so so easy with the Gunship.) :)

Okay, but I'm getting distracted. This mission is tricky because they don't tell you all the fail-conditions ..seems you really have to avoid running into explosions or coming to a standstill. They want you to keep moving. (tricky) :)

On the initial run you really need to get the targets on the runway on your first pass. Just nose-down, don't go too low, and fire rockets at each target. If you miss any just abort the mission and try it again.. With a bit of practice you get a good 'feel' for where the rockets will hit. Just remember to stay high enough to not damage the heli.

Then turn right and head for the moving targets. This is easier because the gun is auto-aiming. Go low, level out a bit, point at the closest one, fire and follow it with your nose if you need to. Then point the gun at the second and fire again, etc .. I usually use the rudder to do all my turning here. If I pass over them I'll bank around and try again though.

Sometimes luck just isn't with you with your speed into the area, or the vehicle movements. Don't worry .. just try it again. Once you've got them all, bank right and head for the landing zone.

Here I think you get points for where you're pointing as well as how close you get. So point your nose towards Las Venturas when you're over the corona ..I think there's a key that pushes the camera above you in a 'landing' mode. On the PC it's shift-lock or something. Not sure on the PS2 ..I think this is taught to you on the first gunship training mission.

So yeah, try to land centered and facing east-ish. I think that's it. Just be quick, and hope for the vehicles to be positioned favorably when you go in.
