Physics Wavelength Question:
To increase the frequency, you...
To increase the amplitude, you...
To increase the frequency, you ________.
To increase the amplitude, you ________.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

To increase the amplitude, you increase the energy motion.
hope that helps.

M$If you are talking about mechanical waves (on a string, transverse), the same basic principal applies. To increase frequency you decrease wavelength and to increase power you vibrate the string harder. Now, if you are talking about STANDING waves on a string (think guitar string), you can also increase frequency by increasing tension or decreasing the length of the string. You can also decrease the linear mass density of the string. (Pull a string tighter, makes higher pitched note. Make it shorter, makes higher pitched note, use a lighter string, makes higher pitched note).
If this doesn't answer your question, please elaborate.
