Here is a famous photo although not an uplifting one but it is a photo that sparks emotion in most individuals and was an image that will always be connected with the Vietnam war
Asker's rating:
An image that changed the face of the war and sparked the protests, it belongs on the list of world famous pictures!

A couple possible additions occur to me...

There's the "Great Day in Harlem":

The Kurt Cobain poster everyone I knew had on their walls in college:

And, of course, the Nick Nolte mug shot:

Oops sorry about that!
I didn't swap the picture. The site I got it from must have. I picked the Muhammad Ali picture why would have I have taken it back?
Thank you for your concern. ;)

The Star Trek Kiss.

A little known fact about Star Trek is that it was the first series to have an onscreen interracial kiss in 1968 (first in America anyway – though there’s some debate about the whole thing).

Moon landing photos for sure need to be added!

And let's not forget the meeting of Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin at Yalta.

The last one is a favorite of mine, A train that has crashed through the train station.

By the way, the first picture of "Afghan Girl" with those amazing green eyes has an incredible after story. A National Geographic program went back and found her in 2002 (17 years later) in Afghanistan. I highly recommend reading it if you missed it back then.

Apparently, as the most world-famous Georgian, Stalin is a source of national pride, especially for the older generation. Gori is one of the few cities on earth where one can still find Stalin statues proudly standing. This one is in front of the museum.
