Your other option is to drive. I have driven back and forth between Arizona and Oklahoma with rabbits many times, both in the cab and in the back, in their cage, which was under a tarp. I prefer them being in the cab because I am there. I put a litterbox on the floor board and they would hop up and down between that and the seat. It is probably safest, however, to keep them in a kennel and then stop frequently for "potty brakes". The did great.

What is a safe way to travel with a bunny?
Should give a small dose of tranq? And what would be safe?
I am flying home from the east coast to the west coast, after the holidays with my new family member. I have owned rabbits before, however, never flown with one. The airline says I can carry-on the my rabbit like a small dog or cat. But I was wondering should I get a tranq for it? What is safe dose? suggestions?

A lot of rabbits travel quite well, and the main issue is finding an airline that will allow you to travel with the rabbit. I have been picking up a rabbit and his foster mom at the airport a couple times a week for the last couple weeks, and he does better than his mom! Just have a nice carrier for him, preferably one with which the rabbit is already familiar, and keep him cool. Also, bring along a plastic bag of his favorite greens and an ice pack to keep them fresh. He will probably nibble on the greens during the trip. Make sure the carrier has plenty of cushioning on the bottom, such as towels or fleeces, in case he needs to use the "potty", as you won't be able to carry your litter box on the plane.
