A common answer is tomato sauce. But this will only mask the scent, not get rid of it. A chemistry professor at Humboldt University discovered a better way. Mix a quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a quarter cup of baking soda and a teaspoon or two of liquid detergent. This will neutralize the acids in the skunk spray and get rid of the smell.

Skunk Bath - Ingredients:

baking soda
peroxide
dawn dishing liquid (must be the one with odor eraser with lime)

1/2 bottle generic 'smokers' mouthwash

warm water

bucket
gloves
cleaning rags

(Put warm water in a bucket, fill it half way. Put 1/2 box of baking soda, 1 cup peroxide, 5 or 6 tbl spoons of dawn, 1/2 bottle of mouthwash. Mix and wipe onto dogs)

You can also try adding:
3/4 cups of fabric softener

Also try:
bakers vanilla (dab on concentrated areas like face or nose where they may have been sprayed)

Vinegar (diluted) in a spray bottle - spray around your house or in areas where the dog sleeps/kennels.

Sources: Past experience, first three ingredients/mixture originally given to me by dog walker. (Previous post provides name of chemist who is apparently credited with the formula). The mouthwash, fabric softener and vanilla is a tip from the web link below - sounds like it might help.

Good luck, hope your hounds like baths!
