Many AKC registered dogs are surrendered every year and looking for a forever home. It is possible to find exactly the pedigree you may be looking for in a rescue.

Looking for a Japanese Akita Inu, not American. Does anyone know a breeder in the States?

Hi, Here is a link to valuable information on the Akita Inu breed and (at the bottom of the page) how to acquire a list of reputable breeders in your area http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/breeds/akitas.html. As you contact breeders you can find out about each individual breeding program and the hereditary lines that they use. In addition this website lists breed rescue organizations. Please screen breeders and be aware of the issues around this particular breed as noted in this informative website. Many AKC registered dogs are surrendered every year and looking for a forever home. It is possible to find exactly the pedigree you may be looking for in a rescue.
