Is the cat an outside cat? Does it have all of its claws? If not, please reconsider placing it at a farm and try to find it a good home. Also, before finding it a home, please make sure that it is spayed or neutered. Cats multiply...quickly. And given that shelters and rescues are overflowing with homeless kitties, we don't want to add any more to the population!

I would suggest stopping at a farm (choose one that you would enjoy living it -- many have heated barns), and simply asking. Farmers usually enjoy having cats around to keep the mice out of the hay, feed, etc.
