Hi, Great to hear that you are interested in potentially adopting a dog. The previous response is very good resource, but to specifically answer your request for Yorkie-Terrier adoption links, please see below. Please be aware, reputable (AKC or other registered) 'breeders' will not be crossing breeds such as your requested mix. Therefore your best bet to find a great Yorkie-Terrier cross is among the many puppies and dogs available for adoption through rescue groups.

Please contact these specific groups - they will be able to provide you with detailed information about the available dogs and the adoption process and application procedures that each group has established. Good luck:

Petfinder.com will link you to a variety of groups in your local area or that have the specific breed or search information (ie age of dog, size etc.) you request.

Adoption is a great choice, since there are so many dogs out there who need homes. You can go on www.petfinder.com and search for Yorkies. You can also google "Yorkie rescue". Of course, small dogs are very popular and are often adopted quickly. You may need to get on a waiting list. Some people complain about the application process, as it can amount to a low-level background check, but if you're adopting from a reputable rescue it's worth it. The dogs will have been temperament tested, will be spayed/neutered and up to date on shots and may even have some basic obedience.

If you choose to buy a dog, do NOT, under any circumstances, buy a dog from a pet store. All of their "inventory" comes from puppy mills. You'd be getting an unhealthy dog that will very likely be unstable. There are all kinds of horror stories about people spending over a thousand dollars for a pet store dog and then thousands more to cure all of its various afflictions. My neighbors have a Chihuahua that I'd swear has flippers instead of back legs. Not even kidding. Plus you'd be supporting a grossly inhumane industry.

I don't recommend puppies from the newspaper/Craig's list/internet either. Yorkies are VERY popular and there are a lot of unethical breeders out there breeding unhealthy dogs.

See if you can find a local Yorkie group and get some recommendations for responsible breeders. In a pinch look on the AKC website. A responsible breeder will only breed their bitches every couple of years, will screen the dame and sire for health issues, will hand raise the pups, will let you meet the mother (highly recommended, so you can see her temperament) and will take your dog back any time during the life of the dog. A good breeder will also ask you a lot of questions and do a background check.

Good luck finding your next best friend! Please spay/neuter and go through basic obedience with your dog. It makes life with your dog so much better!
