Do betta fish change colors?
I've had my fish for three or so days now, and he's starting to turn black. He eats well and it pretty active. It started with just black spots where his fins meet his body and now it's more of his face and the body, where it meets the fins. It's moving from the front to the back of his body.
I went to Petland and the guy there was confused. He sold me some anti-fungal fish drops but so far there's been no change.

"Bettas are known to change colors very often. They change colors dependant on their mood, other fish, proper tank stuff, etc. "

Yes it's normal for a Betta fish to change color, and they can change color a lot. A Betta fish changes color when they sense trouble. It might change from a deep red to a bright blue. Normal stress will cause it to change color. You may want to purchase some stress treatment to ail your Betta fish.

Try the stress coat and see if that changes anything. If it doesn't give the bowl a cleaning (no soap!) and change the water.
