Also, you'll want to check which version of the game you're using. Later versions from the 1.0 release (ie major changes in 1.07 and 1.08) changed many of the path behaviors of units, so you may see units do things in later versions of the game they could not, or usually could not, do in earlier versions. If you're automatically patching from Battle.net, you'd see this behavior possibly change, whereas if you do not, you might see different behavior in your (earlier) version than someone else's version.
In general, except for actual ground obsructions and walls, zerlings can run through all "walls" between buildings. Other units cannot do this. It is not necessarily a question of the size of the sprite of any particular unit/structure, but of how zerglings are set up (as being smaller than the minimum distances between any structure). There is no 100% building wall barrier against them.

StarCraft unit and building sizes (in pixels)
say why zerglings can sometimes pass the space between barrack and supply depo but sometimes not, people say that this is related to the sizes, zergling is 16 pixels wide, while barrack and supply depo can create spaces less or more than 16 pixels
