What is the most interesting and creative punishment that you've given to your kids.

My son used to ignore me by playing his DS and not listening to me. It happened over and over (and over) again.

Once I got so mad I made him go to his room and play his DS nonstop for (prob about 3) hours. He was upset, begging me to allow him to stop playing. I refused. I said, if that DS is more important than anything I have to say you play it. "But I have homework" he said. I said, you tell your teachers that you had to play your DS all night. "But I am hungry" I threw him some chips and a drink and said "not dinner time, play time".

By the time I let him off the hook, he dropped that DS and didn't pick it up again for days. Now, if I call his name when he plays, he immediately closes it.

Did you ever have an effective yet, creative punishment that worked? :)

My son was always leaving clothes on the floor, books on the table, games everywhere, etc. Piles of stuff just didn't phase him. To help him stop the habit of cluttering, I devised a simple system. For every item I had to pick up, I charged 50 cents. All items were itemized and at the end of each week this bill for laziness was presented to my son. The total was DEDUCTED from his allowance.
This plan worked wonders.

OMG! My son does this too. We have this one small sofa that he tends to use as a shelf! He puts everything on it! It drives me crazy..

He has a savings account that I auto transfer 25 dollars to each month. I give him extra if he does additional chores, but I always threaten to take money out and I never do.

I'm going to tell him that for every item he leaves on there, I'll deduct a dollar from his account :) If he actually sees his account getting smaller, he may just stop doing it!

Thank you :)

I don't think I could top that. That's hilarious. I guess we weren't too creative, just the usual tired old methods. I thought I was punishing my son by homeschooling him for the rest of the term when he got expelled, but he liked it. Turns out he enjoyed learning, just hated the school environment.

I don't think I planned on it turning out like that, it was just the only thing I could think of because I wanted to ring his neck :P

Now I'm a big fan of reverse psychology :>
