As a public school teacher, I know that parents choose to home school for many different reasons. Some of these include:
1. Belief that their child will be better educated at home than in their local schools or that the child won't receive individualized instruction in school.
2. Fear that their child will be negatively impacted by being around other students that use drugs, are violent, or generally disrepectful.
3. As a way to shield their child from bullying or teasing.
4. General anxiety about something happening to the child while they are out of their care.

for example, my child was advanced in some areas, but was immature in other areas. i found in experience with public schools, that they are not equipped to cater to the extremes, but are more geared to the generalized average personality.

1. They feared that she would become a "slut", in result she acted strange around boys and would do whatever she could to flirt with them, she was just to touchy.
2. Feared people being mean to her, in result she did not know how to communicate with many people, very awkward.
3. Fear she would start using drugs, in result she started using drugs to try to gain friends

speaking from the perspective of a home-schooling parent, i didn't have fears, per se, but my biggest concern about public schools was the lack of individualized education. every person learns differently and i didn't want my child to become compartmentalized into a "type of learner". for example, my child was advanced in some areas, but was immature in other areas. i found in experience with public schools, that they are not equipped to cater to the extremes, but are more geared to the generalized average personality.

2. Feared people being mean to her, in result she did not know how to communicate with many people, very awkward.
