How do you tell family to stop buying your child stuffed animals? I don't want to sound ungrateful.

i have read some of your questions and if I am not mistaken, your child is very young. Your family is just showing love to your child and wanted to do to something special for them. What I used to do was to take the new stuffed animal and put an older one up to be donated to Goodwill or the hospital. Sometimes they were rotated pretty quickly.
Handling it this way kept hurt feelings out of the way and less fortunate kids were receiving something that was not trash. There were still alot more in her room so I bought a hammock for her room to hold them.
She is 16 now and she still has alot of the old stuffed animals and she treasures them.
Eventually people will stop giving your child stuffed animals but for now just let them do it. It is important to them and your child.

I totally agree with your answer. We buy and/or get stuffed animals for our kids all the time. When it becomes too much - we either store them away in order to rotate them or take them to Goodwill (or even have a garage sale).

You can tell; them that your child is crazy about this or that in everyday conversation. Maybe they'll take a hint. Or you can say your child is allergic to dust and fur from stuffed animals collect dust (that's my mom's reason for taking away my stuffed animals. :( . I was and still am allergic to dust.)

Talk to them about things that your child is into, what he / she likes. This will give them other ideas about what to give him / her. In other words just gently point them in another direction.
They may be buying your child stuffed animals because they simply don't know enough about your child to know what to buy. They probably figure every child loves stuffed animals so it is a safe choice.

If you gently explain your reason(s) for not accepting stuffed animals anymore, it won't sound ungrateful. Surely they are capable of focusing on other gift ideas, particularly if you are willing to offer suggestions when necessary?
For example, if you are simply running out of room for the stuffed animals, there's nothing wrong with saying so and mentioning that you've reached the point where you're going to have to start giving several of them away to charity or something.
If they keep doing it regardless of your requests to stop or your hints at other ideas for things your child likes, then you could always look at it as a source of free stuffed animals that you can give away to others who would want them.

Have a talk with them. Let them know you appreciate what they have been doing. Tell them why you don't want your child to have anymore stuffed animals. Give them suggestions about what your child could use. Be kind and tactful. Most people want to give gifts that are wanted and/or needed. They are probably not aware of why you don't want any more stuffed animals. You are lucky to have a family that cares enough to give presents. Let them know.

Mention that you are going to have to have a yard sale just to cut down on the number of stuffed animals.
