Do you know of a child car seat (9 month old baby) that will fit using a lap belt only (in a citroen 2cv). Local driving only, no motorways!

Some rear facing seats will. I am not sure whether your child will still fit in a rear facing seat, but I once had a Cosco that accomodates a lap belt only, and it was perfectly safe. This is providing your child can still fit into this type of seat properly. If not, I wouldn't recommend it. Good luck!

My family drove Citroens excusively from 1961 to the mid-1980's (I left for Europe, my sister for Manhattan, my father died of cancer). If it were feasible I would still be driving one now that I'm in the US againin a city that requires for an automobile. Having said that...and having begged my father for a 2CV as a teenager...and having fallen in love with a dashing Viennese with a Burgundy and Grey convertible 2CV my Junior-Year-Abroad...I would advise a person with an infant (and even children) to stay away from this loveable and loyal auto. It is not a prety sight in an accident. Our family friend owned the local Citroen dealership/repair shop when I was growing up. I used to hang out there a lot waiting for one of our DS21s, Grand Route Stationwagons or SM (Citroen Maseratis) to be repaired. The sight os a 2CV or a Mehari hit by a normal 1960's or 1970's car would scare anyone. Imagine one of today's SUV's plowing into a 2CV or rolling over onto it...with you and your precious baby. I've had friends give up motorcycles when at the birth of their 1st child. I would put the 2CV in that same class. BTW, in today's news here in California. A car plowed into a pickup. The mother, father, and infant in the cab were hospitalized. Their other three children sitting in the back of the pickupwere ejected upon impact and are dead.
