My Little Pony was my all-time favorite toy as a little girl - no Barbies for this little one. I used to save up my allowance and buy at least one or two a month (back in the day they were only $3-5 apiece) and collected over 50 of them. I think my Mom still has them somewhere in a box.
My favorite was "Melody" - she was the first unicorn pony and I was the first among my friends to have her, so I was pretty excited at the time.
I remember when they relaunched a while back, a friend of mine who had a daughter prime for MLP playing was really excited and went out and bought a few. However, her daughter was unimpressed by them and only played with them for a few minutes (mostly to humor her mom, I think).
Although I don't know what the sales statistics are, I really don't think that MLPs are as popular this time around. I think the relaunch was as much for us who were kids in the 80s and now have children of our own as it was for the kids themselves. Kids now (in my experience) tend to follow toy trends of their own and are more enamored by video/computer games than plastic horses.

Hasbro keeps re-inventing My Little Pony and coming up with some new products based on the ponies. They will last as long as little girls like colorful horses and brushing manes.
My sister's favorite was the blue one (sorry, I'm not familiar with the names).
You can take the "Which Pony is Just Like You" quiz if you still have the pony love!

Did you play with My Little Pony (MLP) as a child? The relaunch was 10 years ago. How much longer will the popularity last?
What was your favorite pony?

I never played with them but my sister, who is 6 yrs. younger, did when they originally came out. Hasbro keeps re-inventing My Little Pony and coming up with some new products based on the ponies. They will last as long as little girls like colorful horses and brushing manes.
