Shutterstock is one of the biggest ones, if not the biggest, and Fotolia gives you a good share of the sales and looks to be pushing towards more international markets,
I don't really shoot stuff that's appropriate for stock sites, so I can't help you too much with specifics, but I will note that I've had a few images from flickr published - the biggest piece of advice I can give there is to tag the hell out of every single photo you post, each tag could bring in sales that you otherwise wouldn't get.
