What are some good resources for filing US Patents?

I've got an idea that I want to get patented, and unfortunately, the US patent system is downright byzantine when it comes to finding appropriate information.

Has anyone here filed a patent successfully? If so, what resources did you use for information like formatting, details, drawings, etc?

I don't think the US patent system is that byzantine. Have you gone through the USPTO website? They have how to pages that explain the process on how to file a patent and even have the forms to do so electronically (see link in sources). If you think you need professional help, the last link on the page also has a listing of every patent attorney. You can put in your city and it will list every attorney with their contact information.

Is there any specific problem you are having with the filing process? Have you tried calling the patent and trademark office?

You're going to need to hire a patent attorney.  Read this article on how to find a good patent attorney:
