Next Question
Historically, Orlando has been considered a destination perfect for "Type A" personalities. Certainly, a seven-day visit is barely enough to scratch the surface when it comes to theme park thrills.
But another side to Orlando has quietly emerged. The spas have arrived! And not just any spas, either. Orlando is now home to the biggest (and most prestigious) spa brands int he country. Consequently, a new tourist activity has emerged: spa-hopping. Borrowed from the college-age past-time of "bar-hopping," those who are looking for the spiritual equivalent of a "five day park hopper" need only check out the signature treatments at Orlando's best spas.
The Big Three:
1. Canyon Ranch SpaClub: Located inside the fabulous Gaylord Palms Resort, the Canyon Ranch SpaClub is an outpost of the legendary Canyon Ranch health resorts. Featuring one of the most extensive menu of treatments in Central Florida, this spa is also the only resort spa in Orlando to have won the prestigious Mobil Four Star Award every year since its inception. The resort charges for parking, but this can be validated. On-site restaurants. Reservations:407-586-0000
2. The Spa at Ritz-Carlton: The largest spa in the Ritz-Carlton chain. This spa features many exotic and exciting treatments, including many made with citrus. The spa is located between the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes and J W Marriott Grande Lakes. This spa has won the Mobil Four Star Award. The resort charges for parking. On-site restaurants. Reservations: 407-393-4200
3. Mandara Spa: Located inside the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort. This Balinese-style spa includes space for reflection in a scenic environment. On-site restaurants. Reservations: 407-934-4772
The Rest of the Pack:
Your spa experience shouldn't stop with the "big three"... there are plenty of more "oohs and aahs" to go around:
* The Spa at Omni Championsgate
* The Spa at Rosen Shingle Creek
* The Spa at Buena Vista Palace
* The Spa at Disney's Grand Floridian
* Papillion Spa
* The Spa at Marriott World Center
* The Spa at Reunion Resort
* The Spa at Disney Institute
* The Spa
* Athena Spa

I went there with my mother-in-law a couple of years ago, and it was exquisite. She lives in the area and said it was the top of the line.
The range of different massage types is great...everything from deep-tissue, to hydromassage, to stone massage is offered. I can honestly say that the Abhyanga massage I received there is the best massage I've ever had. It involves two therapists performing a synchronized, full-body and head massage using warm oil. It's incredible.
They also offer an extensive selection of facial options. For a detailed list of all of their services, click this link:
