They are completely different grains. Think of the difference in taste between oatmeal and whole wheat bread. Then think of the difference in taste between cornbread, rye bread and steamed rice.

You can get several different kinds of grain rolled through health food stores. I've seen rye and spelt, besides wheat and oats. This is great if you're wanting to make your own granola, muesli or hot cereal blend.

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm not really a health/organic food kinda guy. But rolled oats have been around forever. They are just oats(a grain plant) that's had the chaff removed and been rolled over to "squish" them flat. Oatmeal is usually rolled oats if you wonder at the taste. Here's wikipedia for more details on them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolled_oats

Just like their oat counterparts, rolled wheat are just wheat that has been steamed and flattened into a flake. They do taste very different, though they are both grains so are similar.
