In the rush to produce more and more crops to satisfy growing demand producers have had to resort to using a lethal cocktail of pesticides to control disease and insect attack.

Good news for their bank balances perhaps but not good news for your health, this is why you need to be informed of the advantages of organic food.

Organic food is known to contain 50% more nutrients, minerals and vitamins than produce that has been intensively farmed.

Basically organic food means fruits and vegetables has been planted and grown without the use of chemical fertizer or it's genetics NOT been MODIFIED. Tended simply with a lots of tender loving care. The natural way.

Epicurus provided a great answer, but I wanted to add - make sure your produce is certified organic. That is the only way to ensure you are getting truly organic foods, and not just home grown or other lesser quality produce. Certified organic produce and foods are guaranteed to be grown completely naturally.

Organic means that the product was grown without genetic tinkering, chemicals and other enhancements, it also means that it costs more.
