Do you like transition eyeglass lenses?

I just got new glasses today with these transition lenses and they are not dark enough at all. When I am outside it is like I am wearing my regular eyeglasses and it is too bright. I got them because I hate wearing sunglasses clips on my eyeglasses and thought this was the solution but now I don't know what to do. Any thoughts from those that have these or tried them?

I had transitions on my last pair of glasses. They have positives and negatives. The positive is you have sunglasses every time you are exposed to UV rays. The negative is they don't work in cars and they take a while to change back to clear once you go inside.

You mentioned they are not dark enough in the car. This is because they need direct exposure to sunlight to turn dark. It will not work though car windows unfortunately. But outside in sunlight, they should be dark enough. If the lenses are small, then it's possible sunlight will still get around the lenses to your eyes.

Also temperature effects how dark they can become. Hot weather makes them change less. You will notice in winter they will be darker because it is cold.

On my new glasses, I chose not to get transistions, for 1, just to save money, and 2 because I didn't like the delay of waiting for them to turn back clear when I went inside.

This is all true and I agree, I get transitions on the majority of all my eyeglasses. They have come a long way even in the last couple of years. They change faster than they used to, but still do not work in cars. IF you want to have transitions in your car buy DRIVEWEAR. Drivewear lenses work like transitions but they react to different light rays so they will darken in the car. The only downfall with drivewear is one the price and two they always have a light tint to them. The light tint in the lens is very similar to the first transitions that came out. My transitions have no tint at all when I am inside working and will change back and forth in about 40-50 seconds. (I timed it, and yes it changes differently depending on the temperature).

I like them. Maybe they did not make them dark enough for you? I know the ones I have go pretty dark and it is nice when leaving the office.
It is very nice when driving.

So it is not too bright when you are outside or when you are driving? I thought they would darken more. I can see in the mirror that they are greyer but I don't notice the difference looking out of them. I'm still squinting because of the light they let in. I just got them an hour ago so I'm going to continue to experiment with wearing them. I'm just so disappointed because I was really excited to be getting them and to give up my clipon sunglasses.

Call the place you had thewm made and see if there is a level of tint. Perhaps they can darken them for you. I had mine pretty dark becasue I live in Arizona and the sun is brutal.

I never tried them but know people that have used them and hear many of them complain about the same thing. I wouldn't like them, they wouldn't get dark quick enough for me and if they aren't that dark, they are useless. Get a pair of perscription sunglasses. That's what I have, you get them as dark as you want, never having to worry about clipon sunglasses. Of course there is the expense of the extra pair of glasses, which could be an issue.
