Opened up a spot on the salad roster. Which is best: red onions, peas, chickpeas, sundried tomatoes or carrots?

My choice would be red Spanish onions because they are a great salad color, not too strong and can be really sweet. They go with everything, are not too expensive and last a long time in storage.
Peas - OK but nothing interesting, snow peas are crispy but not very nice when they go limp
Carrot - bit boring :) but filling, cheap and easy to use and they last a long time too.
Chickpeas - a bit heavy to use all the time and not as popular as some vegetables
Sun-dried tomatoes - getting to be a bit common too. They've had a few health scares in our country so I am a bit put off using them as much as before

so my vote goes to red onions!
